We’re excited to share another feature of our new E. Jefferson location: our private infrared sauna room will now include its own shower, making it easier to relax, refresh, and transition back into your day after your session.

Add Hot & Cold Therapy to Your Sauna Routine

For those who enjoy contrast therapy, our new shower also creates an opportunity to alternate infrared heat with a cool or cold rinse.

Moving between hot and cold can be invigorating. Heat encourages blood flow, relaxes muscles, and can ease stiffness and soreness, while brief cold exposure causes blood vessels near the skin to constrict and may help temporarily reduce soreness and inflammation. Alternating the two creates a warming-and-cooling cycle that many people find helpful for recovery, circulation, and an overall sense of refreshment.

There can be a mental benefit, too. Sauna encourages us to slow down and soften, while a cool rinse can leave us feeling alert and energized. Together, they offer a simple ritual for shifting out of the stresses of the day and reconnecting with the body.

You don’t need an ice bath to experience contrast therapy. After your infrared sauna session, simply finish with a comfortably cool shower, or alternate warm and cool water based on your tolerance. Cold exposure isn’t appropriate for everyone, particularly people with certain cardiovascular or circulatory conditions, so more intense cold therapy should be discussed with your healthcare provider when appropriate.

It’s another way our new sauna room can become a space for rest, recovery, resilience, and a little Yangsheng—nourishing life through intentional daily practices.

More about our Sauna

Infrared sauna uses radiant heat to warm the body more directly than a traditional sauna. The deep, gentle warmth can be a wonderful addition to a Yangsheng-inspired self-care routine, particularly during Seattle’s cooler, darker months.

Regular sauna sessions may help support relaxation and stress reduction, circulation, muscle recovery and soreness, cardiovascular health, and restful sleep. The warmth can also provide a welcome opportunity to slow down, disconnect, and give your nervous system a little space to reset.

In Chinese medicine, warmth and rest are deeply nourishing. Our new sauna space reflects the Earth element theme of this season—creating a place to feel grounded, cared for, and replenished.

And now, with a private shower right in the sauna room, you can enjoy your session, rinse off, and leave feeling refreshed.

We can’t wait for you to experience it at our new E. Jefferson home.
